Overview
Sustainable cycles
There are certainly chemicals that are more popular than hydrogen peroxide. But despite this, it has to be used in certain industrial processes, such as the disinfection of water. To ensure that everything runs safely and as it should, sensitive sensors are used for monitoring. They form the basis of a closed control circuit, and, together with controllers, metering pumps and smart inventory management, they provide a complete solution for digital fluid management.
Sustainable use of water in industrial processes
Milling is sometimes an important step in the manufacture of consumer goods. However, it does produce dust that has to be washed off. If this is done with normal water, unwanted limescale is left on the surface of the goods, which is why distilled, demineralised water is used for the job. Because this is generally more expensive than conventional water, it is important for the water to be reused in the production cycle. And, of course, the same applies from a sustainability standpoint too. There is however potential for contamination when the water is returned to the production cycle. So the water has to be disinfected and, with the aid of filters, demineralised. Hydrogen peroxide, a chemical which requires supporting documents, can be used for this purpose.
Using a metering pump gamma/ X, the delivery volumes of the hydrogen peroxide solution are recorded as required by law and saved in a controller DACb. The pump, equipped with a Teflon diaphragm, is also ideally suited to metering the aggressive and outgassing disinfection solution into the washing water. During disinfection, the concentration of the washing solution is continually measured using a highly sensitive DULCOTEST sensor for hydrogen peroxide. The controller keeps the H2O2 concentration constant and a radar level sensor informs the user in good time when the hydrogen peroxide needs topping up. So there is no need for any contact with the chemical.
The smart complete solution DULCONNEX networks all the components in the process. This allows users to view all key data and measured values at any time and to monitor the status of their system in real time. Deviations in the process trigger an alarm in good time, e.g. if a filter needs replacing, so there are no production downtimes. This improves process reliability and system efficiency. What’s more, automated compliance reports efficiently satisfy regulatory documentation obligations.
Everything comes from one source: ProMinent supplies the complete hardware solution (metering pump, controllers, sensors) and the IIoT system networked into this for digital fluid management.
